SHOULD YOU USE HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY?

Thus far, studies have shown that HRT has a profound impact on menopausal discomforts and therefore is very beneficial to menopausal women.  HRT has been found to be effective in reducing hot flashes, night-sweats, vaginal dryness, and the risk for osteoporosis. Despite these recommendations, the benefits and risks of HRT are not fully understood, and the majority of these studies still need further investigation.  The decision to use preventive HRT is not simple and is influenced by the personal characteristics and beliefs of women and their physicians.  At this point, there are no effective alternatives to HRT, but research is ongoing.
