NUCI 6402- Advanced Practice
Nursing in Acute Care
CNS Clinical Log Criteria
- Students
will prepare their own objectives for the CNS clinical rotation using the
7 course objectives as a guide. They will work with their Clinical
Preceptor and Faculty Supervisor in preparing the objectives and both CNS
Preceptor and the Faculty member must approve them. Students should come
to their first CNS clinical with a draft of their objectives to share with
their preceptor. There should be 7 realistic, measurable objectives for
this 105 hour clinical rotation.
- Students
may count no more than 8 hours library time toward their 105 clinical
hours.
- Students
will document clinical hours (dates/times) in their logs. Logs will be
turned into their Faculty Supervisor after each 25 hours of CNS clinical.
- Logs
will be typed and placed in a 3 ring binder; a cumulative set of logs will
be turned into the instructor-do not give us single sheets of paper! We
want to be able to look back over earlier log entries as we follow your progress.
We suggest that you indicate how you are progressing in meeting each
objective with each log entry.
- For
the final log entry, please address the following: Your definition of a
CNS, how this differs from the NP role and how this relates to Advanced
Practice Nursing.
