The main project for Spring, 1997 was to create color relief
maps of Africa using Adobe Illustrator. The project involved tracing from
a black and white pattern map onto a base with a different projection,
scanning the tracing, using that scanned map as a template for intricate
tracing of different relief layers in Adobe Illustrator, relevant color
selection, scanning and importing a photograph of an African scene, completing
other design elements, producing a color print, and carrying out the necessary
conversions for publishing on the web.
