Setters in a Landscape by Edwin Douglas - about

Recommended Reading
Recommeded reading from the library:
Cover of Big Red book     Big Red: The Story of a Champion Irish Setter and a Trapper's Son Who Grew Up Together, Roaming the Wilderness
by Jim Kjelgaard; illustrations by Bob Kuhn.
New York, Holiday House [1956, c1945] - classic story of an Irish Setter.
"From the moment Danny sees the beautiful Irish setter, he knows Red is the dog for him. Together Danny and Red face many dangers in the harsh Wintapi wilderness that they call home."
Because of these books, I started a savings account when I was in highschool so that I could buy an Irish setter. I never got my Irish setter - the breed got popular and many health problems resulted, although now it has recovered somewhat. I kept the savings account somewhat although I have spent quite a bit of money on dogs...

Experiences of an Irish R.M.
E ΠSomerville and Martin Ross
1944. Meet Maria the most amazing Irish Water spaniel and several other canine characters in this delightful book. Highly recommended. Also available as a wonderful video series.

The authors also wrote Maria and some other Dogs, but I have not had the pleasure of reading this.

While researching this title I came across the full text of The Silver Fox by the same authors. I don't know if there are dogs in it or not. From BlackMask Online.

You can find these, and many more books featuring dogs at your local library or try abebooks.
