I have two whippets, Devo and Lucy, both rescued. Whippets (and their cousins) are the most comfort loving creatures on earth. Most likely they are also some of the most beautiful and well mannered dogs as well.
Many beautiful pure and mixed breed dogs are in animal shelters, breed rescue programs and humane societies all over the United States.

Arrangement in blue with Lucy. She is 14 years old now.
If you want a comfortable chair at my house, too bad; it belongs to Lucy.
Saddly, Lucy lost one of her beautiful eyes in a tragic accident. One of my foster German Shorthaired Pointers let herself, Lucy and Devo, my male whippet out of the front gate of the yard. I think they were after a stray rooster that has been hanging around just outside the fence. The rooster must have pecked Lucy in the eye, but I don't really know. Devo and Molly returned unharmed. Lucy recovered from surgery just fine and is not bothered by her injury.
I feel much to blame, I had forgotten to fasten the chain around the gate. I am amazed that Molly could open a 12 foot driveway gate, however, she did.
