The dog in theis antique photograph is probably a deer dog - a cross between a fox hound and a pointer rather than a known breed. He must have been a good one to get his picture made. Deer dogs show up all too often in animal shelters these days. Sweet dogs, good pets for children.

If you are considering adding a hound to your family, please consider a rescue hound - there are so many lovely animals waiting for forever homes in rescue, animal shelters and pounds.
